I guess "Making it mean something." was always the point of what we do. Means for the people, means for the business, means for us.

David, I'm exploring ways to survive and adopt to this new era, as a freelancer moving away from digital design, as brands and user interfaces are now created without the care required from me. People directly building their own solutions, my services getting less wanted, so the budgets are down.

So what left for us? Human involvement that still produces value for businesses, and provides a living for me. Branding? Creative advertising?

I'm also considering terminating my freelance-design career, open a pub or work at one, something like that in "real life" :/

I agree, and I believe that’s a struggle many people, including myself, are facing. Are our careers resilient for another 10–20 years? Even five? I don’t know.

But even though making it mean something was always the point of what we do (I mean, that’s what brand consultancies have always defended), it’s really, really easy to lose track of when making more is so easy.

Volume gets conflated with value. I’m noticing this all around.
